We purchased the Schwinn 420 Elliptical Trainer on December 14, 2009 through Amazon.com. Shipping was speedy and the item arrived in good condition (box was fully intact, items had no visible scratches, dents, etc.) Assembly was fairly easy and took approximately 1.5 hours.
Once assembled I noticed the pedals were quite difficult to push. I attempted to change the settings, but the onboard computer would only display the elapsed time. I paged through the manual, read through the troubleshooting, disassembled the trainer to check for loose connections, yet nothing seemed to work. It seemed the resistance was stuck on the most difficult level and the magnets responsible for controlling resistance were not moving. In a last ditch effort I disassembled the trainer to expose the wires and sensors underneath the magnet housing and checked for crimped wires, loose connections, or anything suspicious of being broken. After reconnecting wires and straightening several wires I reconnected the AC adapter and to my dismay I heard the magnets moving and the trainer worked.
After about a month of use the elliptical trainer has been nothing but outstanding. Very quiet, sturdy, and easy to use. Easily a 4 star rating, but due to the "malfunctioning" computer I have to give it only 3 stars. Get more detail about Schwinn 420 Elliptical Trainer.
